Addison Project
Risk Assessment
Risk assessment is the foundation of a number of regulations, which come together under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. In undertaking our business as providers of total engineering solutions to the production & chemical industries, it is our duty to assess risks associated with the designs we produce or the installation work we carry out & identify the control measures necessary to reduce those risks.
Addison Project fulfils these duties, primarily in two stages, the design stage & the construction stage.
Addison Project’s design section; assess risks associated with such criteria as access, operational, maintenance, constructability & future dismantling requirements. Wherever practicably possible, identified risks are designed out. Where this is not possible, construction section is made aware of the residual design risks. Information is issued to tendering sub-contractors, & may also be included within project health and safety plans.
For projects which come under the CDM Regulations 1994 & where the appropriate appointments have been made, Addison Project’s construction section would produce and issue a pre tender health & safety plan and/or a construction health and safety plan. Both documents would highlight foreseeable risks. For any typical project activity, Addison Project would instruct the nominated sub contractor to produce and issue for approval, a method statement and risk assessment. Our preferred option is for the sub-contractor to use our own pro-forma, this prevents the client and Addison Project being exposed to several different document styles. One of the approval criteria is that the risk assessment is job specific and not generic, where necessary Addison Project will assist the sub contractor with the development of this documentation to achieve the appropriate standard. Once the work is underway, Addison Project’s construction supervisor audits the content and job method as the work progresses. For any changes required the method statement and risk assessment will be modified accordingly prior to the work progressing.
